Visa Requirements for Czech Republic Citizens

Visa requirements for Czech citizens are administrative entry restrictions imposed by the authorities of countries all over the world.

Visa requirements for Czech passport holders depend on the country of destination, as well as the period of stay and the purpose of the visit.

According to the Henley Passport Index, the Czech Republic passport currently sits at 8th place in the worldwide ranking of freedom of travel.

This is because the Czech Republic is part of the European Union and a member of the Schengen passport-free zone, and has come to have visa exemption agreements with numerous countries.

There are currently around 115 countries and territories around the world that do not require Czech citizens to have a visa for varying periods of stay.

To visit these visa-exempt countries, it is usually necessary to have a Czech passport with a validity of between 3 and 6 months upon entry to the destination to be granted a visa-free stay of between 15 days and 1 year.

However, to visit any of the other 25 European Schengen countries, nationals of the Czech Republic are simply required to present a Czech ID card at a border checkpoint, as they are granted freedom of travel to the entire Schengen Area.

Czech citizens who wish to visit countries that are not on the visa exemption list must obtain a visa to do, with the application process different depending on the destination.

It may either be necessary to apply for a visa before traveling through an online application or government diplomatic office, or submit an application for a visa on arrival in the case of a select few countries.
