Myanmar Tourist eVisa Information

The Myanmar tourist eVisa is an online visa implemented in 2014 by the Government of Burma: Republic of the Union of Myanmar. The tourist visa online is available for citizens of eligible countries to visit Myanmar for touristic purposes.

The tourist eVisa for Myanmar allows a single entry stay of up 28 days and is valid for 3 months from the date of issue.

Eligible citizens can complete the simple Myanmar eVisa online application form with personal and passport information.

The online Myanmar tourist eVisa allows the travelers to apply online and have an approved eVisa Travel Authorization to gain expedited entry upon arrival to the country.

eVisa holders can enter Myanmar at select ports of entry only, which include major airports and land border crossings. Travelers arriving by cruise will not be able to enter Myanmar with an eVisa, as it cannot be used for entry at sea ports in Myanmar.

Myanmar Tourist eVisa Requirements

To apply for the Myanmar tourist visa online, applicants must have a:

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival
  • Recent photograph of the applicant, passport-style, which meets the Myanmar eVisa photo requirements

The Myanmar Business eVisa allows a single entry stay of up 70 days in Myanmar for business purposes. It is valid for 3 months from the date of approval

Like the tourist eVisa, eligible citizens are able to apply through the simple Myanmar online visa application form, indicating that they require a business visa when they do so.

Myanmar Business eVisa Requirements are the same as those for the tourist eVisa, However, there is one additional Myanmar Business visa restriction: applicants are first required to obtain an invitation from a registered company in Burma: Republic of the Union of Myanmar.

Applicants are required to provide both a letter of invitation and a registration letter from a local company, registered for at least 3 years in Myanmar, before they can submit the Myanmar business visa online form.

Upon arrival in Burma: Republic of the Union of Myanmar, it is necessary to present the same supporting documentation as that required with the tourist eVisa to gain entry to the country.

The Myanmar business eVisa can be used to enter Myanmar at the same select ports of entry as the tourist eVisa, including many airport and land checkpoints.

ASEAN Visa for Myanmar

As one of the members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Myanmar will be part of the new project to launch a single ASEAN visa for all 10 countries in the bloc.

Visitors will be able to obtain an ASEAN visa for Myanmar by completing a simple application form online. Unlike the Myanmar eVisa, the ASEAN visa will allow entry to 9 other countries as well.

The final details of the ASEAN visa have not yet been made public. It is currently unknown which travelers will be eligible. This page will be updated when more information is released.
