Visa Requirements for Micronesian Citizens
Visa requirements for nationals from Micronesia are entry restrictions placed on Micronesian citizens by the authorities of other states around the world.
Depending on the purpose of the stay and how long the traveler is planning to stay in the destination country, visa requirements for Micronesian passport holders may vary.
Accordingly to the Henley Passport Index, the Micronesian passport is ranked 49th in terms of travel freedom. Micronesians are able to travel to over 90 countries without obtaining a visa or with a visa on arrival option.
Visa-exempt countries permit individuals from Micronesia to gain entry to their borders without a visa for short periods of stay, which may vary between 21 days and 6 months. The permitted purpose of stay is usually for either tourism, business, or to transit to an onward destination.
Micronesians that are planning to stay longer in a visa not required country, or travel for purposes such as to study or work, will need to obtain a visa to travel to these same destinations.
Regardless of the aim of the trip and the expected amount of time they will spend in the country, citizens from Micronesia need to obtain travel authorization to visit visa-required countries.
This can differ between an electronic visa, a visa on arrival, or an embassy visa from the closest diplomatic office of the destination in the Federated States of Micronesia.
