Visa Requirements for Tanzanian Citizens

Visa requirements for Tanzanian nationals are administrative entry restrictions placed on Tanzanian passport holders by the authorities of other countries across the world.
According to the Henley Passport Index, the Tanzanian passport is currently ranked at 73rd position in terms of travel freedom, measured by the countries where Tanzanian citizens can travel to without a visa or by obtaining visa on arrival.

There are several types of travel authorizations citizens of Tanzania may require to travel to different countries ,such as an embassy visa, an electronic travel visa authorization, or a visa on arrival. This will depend on the country of destination, as well as the intended period of stay and the purpose of the visit.

For some territories, a travel authorization may not be required as they are listed in the visa-free country list for Tanzanian citizens. These countries usually permit travelers to spend between 30 days and 6 months inside their borders.

However, some of these same visa-exempt countries may require Tanzanian travelers to complete an electronic travel authorization application before arrival.

A valid Tanzanian passport is a general requirement for citizens from Tanzania to travel to any country, whether it requires a visa or not.

Citizens from Tanzania who are planning to travel to a country that is not listed in the visa-free country list, will need to obtain a visa. This will be either a visa on arrival at a border checkpoint, an embassy visa from a consulate of their destination, or an eVisa through an online application.
