Angola Visa Policy

Learn about Angola’s visa policy and learn about the entry requirements for travelers of your nationality.

Visa policy for Angola

The visa policy of Angola outlines the type of visa or travel authorization required by each foreign traveler to enter the country.

The entry requirements vary according to factors such as the individual’s nationality, the purpose of the trip, and the intended length of stay in Angola.

Angola has an electronic visa, or e-Visa, available to visitors from certain countries. This online entry permit is valid for short stays and can be used for tourism or business.

Nationals of most other countries must obtain their visa for Angola from an embassy, including for short-term visits.

Any foreign national who wishes to relocate to and/or perform employed work in the country must obtain the relevant visa(s) and permit(s) from an Angolan embassy or consulate. This may include an Angola work visa, residency permit, study visa, or long-term stay visa.

Angola also has a visa on arrival option available for certain travelers. This can be obtained at the border if the individual meets all the relevant conditions. However, this comes with the drawback of having to stand in line on arrival and with the risk of being denied entry if there is a problem with processing the supporting paperwork.

Finally, nationals of a select few countries enjoy visa exemption for Angola, meaning that they can enter the country without a visa, using only their passports.

Find out more about Angola’s visa policy in the comprehensive guide to the rules and regulations regarding entry to the country below.

Tourist Visa Policy for Angola

According to the Angolan visa policy, many foreign nationals require a visa to visit Angola for tourism.

There are a number of types of tourist visa for Angola. The kind required depends on the traveler’s nationality.

The Angola e-Visa, which can be obtained online prior to traveling to the country, grants permission to visit for tourism. It is available to individuals of various eligible nationalities and is considered to be the quickest and easier option when it comes to getting an Angolan tourist visa.

The e-Visa permits the tourist to stay in Angola for up to 30 days. For longer visits, an embassy visa will be needed.

The Angola visa on arrival also allows holders to enter as tourists, but can be less convenient to obtain. Applicants must queue at immigration control to fill out the form and wait while it is processed.

Holders of passports issued by countries that are not eligible for the e-Visa or visa on arrival must get their Angola tourist visa from an embassy or consulate.

See below a map showing which nationalities require the different sorts of tourist visas to visit Angola.

Angola e-Visa

The Angola electronic visa (e-Visa) is a digital entry permit that is obtained by completing an online application form.

It is available to holders of passports issued by over 65 different countries.

The Angola e-Visa allows the bearer to visit the African nation for the purposes of tourism and/or business.

Once granted, it is valid for 60 days from the date of issue. During this time, the holder may enter Angola on a single occasion or multiple times, depending on their preference.

Upon each entry to Angola, the traveler is permitted to spend a maximum of 30 days in the country with the e-Visa before leaving. If a visitor wishes to stay for longer, they must either leave and re-enter the country or obtain a different visa covering long stays, which can be applied for at an embassy.

The e-Visa for Angola can be obtained online by entering the traveler’s personal and passport details in a visa application form, answering travel-related questions, and providing digital copies (scans) of supporting documents.
