Visa Policy for South Sudan
The visa policy of South Sudan determines who may enter the Republic in East-Central Africa without a visa and if a foreign citizen needs a visa for the country.
At present, there aren’t any countries that do not need a visa for South Sudan, although citizens of Tanzania are able to obtain a visa on arrival at border entry checkpoints.
All other foreign citizens need a visa obtained in advance to visit South Sudan regardless of the amount of time they wish to spend or the purpose of travel.
Travelers from around 45 countries are required to visit a diplomatic government office in person to apply for a visa for South Sudan. However, the majority of foreign passport holders are now able to apply for a South Sudanese e-Visa through a simple online application.
This protocol eliminates the need to obtain a paper travel document from an embassy or consulate. Applicants are simply required to complete a basic electronic form, upload any necessary supporting documents in digital form, and pay a visa fee to receive an approved e-Visa for South Sudan sent by email.
An electronic visa for South Sudan may be issued for a variety of travel purposes, including for tourism, business, transit, or to work or study. It may be granted for a range of periods of stay and validity, and as either a single entry or multiple entry e-Visa depending on the needs of the applicant.
