Taiwan eVisa Information

The eVisa for Taiwan (also referred to as the Republic of China or ROC) is an electronic visa that allows travelers to apply online to obtain the necessary authorization to enter the country.

Taiwan launched its eVisa system in 2016 and expanded it later that year to include more countries.

In addition to the nationalities who are always eligible to apply for the Taiwan eVisa, travelers from any country may apply for one if invited to attend an event, such as an international conference, trade fair, or sporting event by the ROC central government.

The Taiwan eVisa permits a single entry to the Republic of China. The visit may be taken any time within 3 months of the date that the eVisa is issued.

International travelers who enter the ROC with an eVisa can remain in the country for a maximum of 30 days. This period cannot be extended.

The Taiwan eVisa allows foreign nationals to enter the ROC for the purposes of tourism and business. In order to visit for any other reason, the relevant visa must be obtained from a Taiwanese diplomatic mission overseas.

To apply for the eVisa for Taiwan, foreign nationals must complete a simple online application form, submitting some basic personal data, passport details, and contact information.

Taiwan eVisa Requirements

In order to obtain an eVisa for the ROC, foreign travelers must meet a number of requirements.

Applicants must be from one of the countries eligible for an eVisa, as specified in the Taiwan visa policy.

The following items are requirements for completing the Taiwan eVisa application form:

  • valid passport issued by an eligible country that will continue to be valid for a minimum of 6 months
  • An active email address to receive the eVisa
  • method of payment (credit or debit card)

Applicants may need to submit additional documents, depending on their nationality and/or purpose of visit.

Once approved, the Taiwan eVisa is sent to the traveler via email. It must then be downloaded and printed.

The visitor is required to present the eVisa along with the passport registered in the application at an ROC border checkpoint upon arrival in Taiwan.
