The majority of foriegn citizens need a visa for Mozambique, as there are currently only a few visa-exempt nationalities for the country, travelers from other Southern African Development Community (SADC) states.
At the moment, visitors to the country are required to either obtain a Mozambique visa from an embassy in advance of travel or queue in long lines at the border to apply for a Mozambique visa on arrival.
However, this will soon change when the Mozambique electronic visa application is implemented in the near future, which will allow eligible applicants to obtain travel authorization exclusively online and is expected to boost tourist arrivals to the country.
To apply for an online Mozambique tourist visa, it is expected that eligible citizens will be required to fill in a simple Mozambique visa application on the internet with basic passport personal and passport information, to receive an approved eVisa sent by email.
The period of stay permitted with the Mozambique visa online and the visa validity have not yet been announced, but it is expected to allow a short stay in the country for business, tourism, or transit purposes.
To visit the country for other purposes such as to work or study, it is expected that travelers will be required to contact their nearest Mozambique embassy or consulate for further information.
