Does every foreign national require a South Korea e-arrival Card?
There are several situations in which you do not need this document:
- Holders of a valid K-ETA (Korea Electronic Travel Authorization)
- Korean citizens
- Registered residents in Korea (including permanent residents and those who reported domestic residence)
- Certain group tourists (specific visa holders from China, Vietnam, Philippines, Indonesia, India, Cambodia)
Until January 2026, nationals from 22 countries are temporarily exempt from needing a K-ETA to enter South Korea.
However, these travelers must now complete the digital e-Arrival Card before arrival.
These countries are:
- Australia
- Austria
- Belgium
- Canada
- Denmark
- Finland
- France
- Germany
- Hong Kong
- Italy
- Japan
- Macao
- Netherlands
- New Zealand
- Norway
- Poland
- Singapore
- Spain
- Sweden
- Taiwan
- United Kingdom
- United States
If you are from one of these countries, you’ll need the e-Arrival Card until January 2026.
After this date, you’ll need a K-ETA again, which means you’ll no longer need the e-Arrival Card.
