India Tourist e-Visa Information

The India Tourist e-Visa is an official electronic visa that allows foreign visitors to enter India without having to visit an embassy or consulate. Applications are completed entirely online in just a few minutes.

The e-Visa is a multiple-entry permit, valid for 365 days from the date of issue, and accepted at India’s major international airports and seaports.

Holders can stay in India for up to 90 consecutive days per visit. Citizens of Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States are eligible for longer stays of up to 180 days per visit.

For shorter trips, a 30-day double-entry e-Visa is also available, allowing two entries within the validity period.

Eligible travelers simply need to complete the online India visa application form to obtain their e-Visa.

Note: For purposes other than tourism, business, or medical travel, you must apply for the correct visa through an Indian Embassy or Consulate.

Application Steps for Indian e-Visa

    Fill in the India e-Visa online application with the required information. This includes basic personal, passport, and contact details. You also need to provide, a valid email address, along with some of your travel plans.

    Depending on the purpose of your visit,you may be asked to upload additional supporting documents. All applicants need to submit an image of their passport information page and a passport-style photo.

  • confirm-payment Confirm payment for the India e-Visa online application

    Use a credit or debit card to cover the cost of the India e-Visa. This processing fee must be paid to submit your application.

    Secure servers are used to protect data. You will be prompted to enter your card details during the application, which will then be processed safely.

  • receive-approved-visa Receive the approved India e-Visa

    Your approved India e-Visa will be delivered to the email address you provided in your application. It may take a few working days to process; most e-Visas for India are received within 48-72 hours.

    Print your e-Visa and bring it with you to India to present at border control. It’s recommended to keep hold of a copy throughout your trip.

Most foreign visitors require a visa for India. There are different types of visa available, depending on your nationality of the traveler, the length of your trip, and the purpose of your visit.

The electronic visa or e-Visa for India is available for the majority of nationalities. It can be obtained by completing a simple online application form. The India e-Visa is processed quickly and delivered by email.

Three types of e-Visa for India exist: the Tourist e-Visa, the Medical e-Visa, and the Business e-Visa. Each of these permits allow foreign nationals to stay in India for a short period of time for the specified purpose.

Citizens of a number of countries are not able to apply online and must obtain a visa from an Indian embassy instead.

Indian embassy visas and permits are also available for foreign nationals who wish to relocate to India, work or study in the country, or stay for longer periods than the e-Visas permit.

According to the visa policy of India, nationals of Nepal and Bhutan may enter the country visa-free and stay indefinitely. They also have the right to live and work in India without requiring any visas or permits.

Citizens of the Maldives, may enter India visa-free for up to 90 days.
