Bali Tourist Tax Information

The Bali Tourist Tax, also known as the Bali Tourism Levy, is a mandatory fee all tourists visiting Bali must pay.

The levy was introduced in February 2024 by Bali’s provincial government to help maintain the region’s natural environment and cultural heritage.

All foreign tourists visiting Bali must pay the tax, including children. You do not need to a pay a tax if visiting other regions of Indonesia.

You only need to pay the levy once while traveling in Bali. If you travel to other parts of Indonesia, and return to Bali on the same trip, you will not need to pay again.

Please note that the Tourist Tax is a not a visa. You may additionally need to apply for an Indonesian tourist visa.

There are very few exceptions for passengers who do not need to pay the Tourist tax. Only Indonesian citizens and long-term residents do not need to pay.

If you think you’re exempt from paying the Bali Tourist Levy, you must apply for an exception application before you arrive.
