South Korea K-ETA eligibility for Russian citizens has not yet been announced.

Citizens of Russia can now obtain a visa waiver to enter Korea by simply completing an electronic application form.

The K-ETA or Korean Electronic Travel Authorization allows Russians to enter and stay in the country visa-free. All they need to do is abide by the country’s entry requirements and submit key details about themselves and their travel plans.

What is the South Korea ETA for Citizens of Russia?

South Korea’s ETA for Russians is a visa waiver that allows them to enter the country for up to 90 consecutive days in each trip, and several times over a total time period of 2 years (since the approval date).

Russian travelers must note the K-ETA is not a visa but a travel permit, which is available to only certain countries, including Russia.

The ETA Korea can be used by citizens of Russia if they are traveling for tourism, leisure, visiting family and friends, and/or to attend business meetings and events.

What Do Russian Citizens Need to Apply for the South Korea K-ETA?

The South Korea K-ETA is intended to ease the visa application process for citizens of Russia. The following conditions need to be met by travelers applying for the ETA:

  • Possess a valid Russian passport with a minimum of 6 months validity
  • Present a recent passport-size photograph
  • Submit a current email address where all official correspondence will be sent
  • Have a credit or debit card to pay the visa waiver processing fee

Russians can also be asked to submit information about their current occupation, the reason why they are visiting the Republic of Korea, and some extra proof of accommodation and/or travel itinerary while in the country.

Although the K-ETA is a visa waiver, it is always advisable to learn more about the general visa requirements for Russian nationals, in case there is any useful information visitors can take into consideration.

How to Apply for South Korea ETA from Russia?

Citizens of Russia need to submit the South Korea Electronic Travel Authorization application form in order to request the K-ETA online.

This electronic form is extremely simple, straightforward, and easy to complete, taking no more than 20 minutes in total. Russians must be prepared to follow 3 simple steps:

  • Completing personal and travel information
  • Double-checking that all data is truthful, correct, and accurate
  • Paying the Korea ETA processing fee

The application form also includes some health-related and security-related questions, which ensure the safety of travelers visiting South Korea.

Some of the personal travel details required from Russians are the following:

Personal data

  • Full name
  • Gender
  • Date of birth
  • Country of citizenship
  • Contact details

Travel information

  • Passport country and number
  • Passport expiry and issuance date
  • Travel plans in South Korea
  • Accommodation and proof of onward travel

When paying the K-ETA fee, citizens of Russia must verify their credit or debit card is authorized for online, international transactions.

K-ETA processing time for Russian visitors

Once nationals of Russia submit their visa waiver application, they can expect to receive their K-ETA in up to 24-48 hours. An email message will be sent to the Russian applicants’ account with an attached PDF file, which is the approved ETA Korea.

The Korean visa waiver is electronically attached to the Russian passport. Therefore, if the passport expires, the same will happen to the K-ETA permit.

Traveling from Russia to South Korea

When traveling from Russia to South Korea, passengers must note they can show the K-ETA on their mobile phones or electronic devices along with their Russian passport. However, it is recommended to print a hard copy of the visa waiver to have it at hand during the duration of the trip.

It is also worth mentioning that the K-ETA must be checked by border officials so they can grant entry into the country. In that sense, Russian citizens must travel on the same passport they used to apply for the Korean visa waiver.

Do Russians Need a Korean Visa?

Russian visitors do not need a visa if they are planning to stay in the Republic of Korea for 90 consecutive days or less, and if the purpose of their visit is tourism/leisure or participating in business events and/or meetings.

If they are thinking of entering South Korea for longer periods, and/or for reasons other than the ones stated above (such as work, permanent residence, academic studies), they must obtain a proper Korean visa.

In the case of requiring a visa to Korea, Russians are advised to schedule an appointment in their nearest Korean embassy or consulate. If travelers are in Russia, they can contact the South Korean embassy in Moscow or the consulates in Vladivostok, Irkutsk, and St. Petersburg.
