Visa Requirements for Citizens of Thailand
Visa requirements for Thai nationals are entry restrictions placed on citizens of Thailand by the authorities of other countries across the world.
The Thai passport is considered the 66th most powerful passport in terms of travel freedom, according to the Henley passport Index. Nationals of Thailand are able to travel to over 30 countries without a visa or by obtaining a visa on arrival.
Visa requirements for citizens of Thailand can differ depending on the country of destination, the period of expected stay, and the aim of the visit.
The main visa-free countries for Thai citizens, which include a number of Caribbean islands, allow travelers to spend short periods of stay, between 14 and 180 days, depending on the destination. Visa-exempt travel is usually permitted for purposes of tourism, business, or transit.
Some visa-exempt countries may request that travelers from Thailand pre-register for an electronic travel visa authorization before departure.
For other purposes, or for longer periods of stay than those permitted visa-free, individuals from Thailand need to obtain a visa to travel to these same territories.
Those who wish to a country not listed in the visa-exempt country list for Thailand citizens are also required to obtain a visa no matter the purpose of the stay. , This may be either a visa on arrival, an electronic visa, or an embassy visa from the nearest government diplomatic office before departure.
