Visa Requirements for Monégasque Citizens
Visa requirements for citizens of Monaco are administrative entry restrictions placed on Monégasque nationals by the authorities of every country and territory around the globe.
At present, the Henley Passport Index ranks the Monégasque passport 15th in terms of travel freedom among the passports of the world, alongside those from Chile and Cyprus. It is also the highest-ranking European passport of any country outside the European Union and EFTA.
This is because nationals of Monaco are permitted visa-exempt or visa on arrival access to up to 125 countries across the world.
Travelers with a passport issued by Monaco are currently permitted visa exemption to approximately 100 countries worldwide, simply by presenting a valid Monégasque passport at a border checkpoint of their destination.
Visitors from Monaco are granted visa-free access to these destinations for stays between 15 days up to 1 year, depending on the country of issue.
Up to 40 countries have implemented an electronic travel visa authorization program for citizens of Monaco. These systems allow Monégasque passport holders to obtain either an eVisa or electronic travel authorization through a simple online application and remove the need to wait in long border queues to get a visa on arrival.
Electronic visas and visa waivers for travelers from Monaco usually permit visits for purposes of either tourism, business, or transit, and allow a stay of between 14 days up to 3 months depending on the destination.
To visit these countries for other purposes and long-term stays, Monégasque citizens are required to apply for an embassy visa. It is also necessary for nationals of Monaco to obtain a visa from an embassy or consulate to travel to roughly 80 global destinations
There are not currently any visa bans for citizens of Monaco in place.
