Visa Requirements for Citizens of Azerbaijan
Visa requirements for Azerbaijan nationals are entry restrictions placed on Azerbaijan passport holders by the authorities of other countries across the world. These requirements may differ depending on the country of destination, the purpose of the visit and how much time the traveler is planning to spend in the territory.
Before planning a trip from Azerbaijan, travelers are advised to check visa requirements for their destination, so they know whether they need to obtain a travel document or authorization to gain entry or not.
Citizens of Azerbaijan must always travel with a valid Azerbaijani passport, whether their destination is a visa-free country or not.
According to the Henley Passport Index, the Azerbaijani passport is ranked as the 78th most powerful passport in terms of travel freedom, which means that nationals from Azerbaijan can visit around 30 countries without first applying for a visa.
The countries on the visa-free list for citizens of Azerbaijan allow visitors to stay between 14 days and 6 months inside their borders, depending on the destination. Permitted purposes for visa-exempt travel usually include tourism, transit, or business. If the traveler plans to stay longer periods of time or visit for other purposes, they will need a visa to do so.
It may be necessary to register for an electronic travel authorization in advance of travel to access some visa-exempt countries for Azerbaijan passport holders.
To visit countries not on the visa-free country list for Azerbaijani citizens,it is necessary to obtain travel authorization, regardless of the aim of the visit or the expected duration of the stay. This can differ between an embassy visa, a visa on arrival, or an electronic visa (eVisa).
