The visa law of Ukraine states that the majority of nationalities need to obtain a travel visa for the country, either a Ukraine eVisa or a traditional consultar visa.

Since 2018, over 50 foreign nationals have been able to submit an online eVisa application form, introduced by the Ukranian government to facilitate the process of entering the country.

This online visa for Ukraine eliminates the need to apply at diplomatic mission in person , and allows short periods of stay for different purposes, including tourism, business, and medical treatment, among others.

However, there is also a list of around 120 nationalities whose citizens need to apply in person for an embassy visa at their nearest Ukrainian government office, no matter the purpose of the stay.

Roughly 70 nationalities are permitted visa-free entry to Ukraine for different periods of short stay. However, if the majority of these nationalities wish to visit Ukraine for longer stays, they will also be required to apply for the correct embassy visa.

See the boxes below for an extended explanation of each Ukraine visa type.

In order to accelerate the process of applying for and receiving a visa and to improve border control in Ukraine, the Ukrainian government introduced an online visa application in 2018.

The Ukraine eVisa application is currently available for over 50 countries across the globe.
