Visa Policy for Turkey

The visa policy of Turkey determines the requirements which a foreign citizen must meet in order to obtain permission to travel to, enter, and remain within Turkey.

The visa requirements to travel to Turkey depend on the nationality of the traveler, as well as the duration and purpose of the intended stay in the country.

The Turkey visa policy states that a number of foreign nationals are required to either obtain an electronic visa (e-Visa) or a visa from a Turkish embassy or consulate in advance of travel in order to visit the country.

The quickest and most convenient way to get visas for Turkey is by applying online for a Turkey e-Visa. This can be done in a few minutes from any location with an internet connection.

However, the Turkish immigration policy also states that a number of foreign passport holders are able to enter Turkey visa-free for short stays for purposes of either business or tourism.

However, for longer stays or purposes not permitted without a visa, visa-exempt citizens are also required to apply for an embassy visa for Turkey in order to visit the country.

There are several different types of visa available by applying at a Turkish embassy or consulate. Those who do need a visa for Turkey are required to apply for the correct visa type depending on the purpose of the stay, whether a Turkish transit visa, tourist visa, business visa, student visa, or work visa.

Tourist Visa Policy for Turkey

Apart from the Turkey visa not required nationalities, Turkish visa rules and regulations state that all other foreign visitors to Turkey must obtain a visa to visit the country.

Those who require a visa for Turkey must obtain one of the visa options in advance of travel, whether an electronic travel visa authorization through an online application or an embassy visa from a Turkish diplomatic office in the country where they are resident.

Travelers of over 100 nationalities are able to obtain an electronic travel visa for Turkey.

This can be done through a quick and easy online application form. The passenger will then receive an approved visa sent by email. This greatly reduces the time it takes to get a Turkey visa, as it eliminates the need to visit a Turkish embassy in person.

A Turkey visa online may be issued as either a single or multiple-entry travel visa authorization, and for a range of periods of permitted stay, depending on the nationality of the traveler.

All Turkish eVisas are issued for short stays for purposes of either business or tourism.

Those eligible for a Turkey e-Visa who wish to spend longer in the country or travel for other purposes, are required to submit a visa application in person at the nearest Turkish embassy or consulate. This also applies for those not eligible for the visa online.
