The Myanmar visa policy determines who can enter Myanmar (formerly Burma) without a visa and the requirements for those nationalities that need a visa to travel to and enter the territory.

On this page travelers can learn all about the visa policy of Myanmar and check the visa requirements for their nationality.

The immigration policy of Myanmar currently states that there are no foreign nationals who can enter Burma without a visa.

However, the government of Myanmar has implemented a online electronic visa for nationals of over 100 countries across the world, which allows travelers to obtain a eVisa before departure and greatly expedites the application process.

This eVisa allow holders to visit Myanmar for purposes of either tourism or business. The period of permitted period of stay is 28 days for tourism, or 70 days for business. Both eVisa types are valid for 90 days to enter Burma from the date of approval.

Those not eligible to apply for an eVisa, or those who wish to visit the country for other permitted purposes, need to obtain an embassy visa before departure from the nearest diplomatic office of Myanmar. Applicants are required to specify the correct embassy visa type required depending on the purpose of their visit, whether for tourism, business, to work, or study, or to transit to an onward destination.

The Myanmar visa policy states that all individuals visiting the country, whether they require a visa or not, need to travel with a passport valid for at least 6 months from the expected arrival date.
