Visa Policy for Mongolia
The visa policy of Mongolia determines who may enter the country with an approved visa and which visa application method they are able to use.
All present, all foreign citizens need a visa for Mongolia and a passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival to enter the country. The visa application protocol a foreign passport holder can use depends on their nationality.
Up to 180 nationalities can now apply for a Mongolia visa exclusively online through a simplified electronic application protocol.
This E-visa program allows eligible travelers to receive an approved visa for Mongolia sent by email. It removes the need to wait in long queues to obtain a Mongolia visa on arrival or visit an embassy or consulate in their country of residence in person to submit paper documents.
A Mongolia E-visa is a single entry electronic visa that allows a stay between 30 and 90 days depending on the traveler’s nationality. It is valid for either tourism or business purposes.
Travelers eligible for an E-visa who wish to visit Mongolia for longer consecutive stays or obtain a work visa or student visa must apply for a visa from their nearest Mongolian diplomatic government office. Additionally, roughly 65 nationalities must obtain an approved embassy visa for Mongolia no matter the intended duration of stay or motive for the visit.
There are not currently any Mongolia visa bans in place for any foreign citizen.
