Visa Policy for Kazakhstan
The visa policy for Kazakhstan states the requirements and regulations that a foreign citizen must meet when wanting to visit the country.
There are around 60 nationalities that do not require a visa to travel to Kazakhstan, for periods of short stay between 14 to 90 days depending on nationality.
However, citizens of more than 180 countries and territories need a Kazakhstan visa to visit the country, either by applying at an embassy or through an online application to obtain a travel visa authorization.
Visa regulations of Kazakhstan currently state that travelers from more than 115 countries are now able to apply for a visa online (eVisa), which removes the need to request an embassy appointment weeks before the trip, or wait in long immigration lines for a visa on arrival at the border.
Those eligible for the Kazakhstan eVisa are able to apply through a simple online form which only takes a few minutes to complete, to receive an approved electronic visa sent by email.
An approved eVisa for Kazakhstan is a single entry electronic visa valid for business or tourism purposes, although it is also available for medical treatment for some nationalities. It permits holders to enter the country once for a short stay of up to 30 days.
Citizens of around 65 countries are required to apply for a visa through a government overseas diplomatic office of Kazakhstan, either an embassy or consulate, no matter the purpose or intended length of the visit.
Online visa-eligible citizens who wish to spend longer periods in the country are also required to apply for a Kazakhstan embassy visa.
Foreign citizens can apply for a wide variety of visas through their nearest embassy of Kazakhstan, whether a work visa, student visa, business visa, religious visa, transit visa, or other visa type.
