Visa Policy for Armenia
The Armenia visa policy decides which travelers require a visa or travel authorization to enter the country and which type of entry permit is needed.
There are a number of different types of visa for Armenia. The kind required depends on the individual’s nationality, their purpose of traveling to Armenia, and the length of time they intend to spend in the country.
Armenia has an electronic visa (e-Visa) system that allows citizens of a number of countries to obtain their entry authorization online.
This can be used to visit Armenia for short stays for a number of purposes, including tourism, but does not authorize the holder to live or work there.
Nationals of a small number of countries may obtain a visa on arrival for Armenia, which comes with the drawback of having to stand in line to apply at the border. Like the e-Visa, these are only valid for short-term visits and do not permit the individual to work in the country.
Holders of passports issued by various countries must apply for their visa directly at an Armenian embassy or consulate, going to the diplomatic mission in person.
According to the Armenia immigration policy, all foreign nationals who plan to live and/or work in Armenia must also go to an embassy to apply for the relevant visa.
A number of nationalities enjoy visa exemption for Armenia, meaning that they may visit the country using only their passport. However, this is only permitted for a limited time and employed work is prohibited without the relevant embassy visa.
