Currently, American citizens no longer require a visa to enter Turkey.

The United States is on the list of countries whose citizens are eligible for a Turkey online e-Visa, meaning US nationals can quickly gain authorization to travel to this beautiful and historic country. Turkey e-Visa requirements for American citizens are simple and straightforward.

The Turkish e-Visa replaces the previous “sticker visa” and was created to speed up the visa application process. It can be used for a single entry or multiple entries into Türkiye.

To obtain authorization to travel to the country, American passport holders need to complete the Turkey online e-Visa application form.

Applicants will also need to meet certain requirements to receive an approved Turkey e-Visa for American nationals.

What Is a Turkey e-Visa for American Citizens and What Does It Do?

Introduced in 2013, the Turkey online e-Visa is a single or multiple-entry visa that allows stays of 30 or 90 days, depending on the nationality of the passport holder. It can also be used to transit through Turkey.

The Turkey e-Visa for American citizens is intended for travelers who wish to visit Türkiye for tourism or business.

US citizens are permitted to visit Turkey for a maximum of 90 days with the Turkey e-Visa. The e-Visa is valid for 180 days from the date of issue.

Travelers can apply for an e-Visa any time before their intended trip begins. However, it is advised to fill out and submit an e-Visa application at least 48 hours before departure.

What Are the Advantages of the Turkey e-Visa for US Passport Holders?

The Turkish e-Visa is a far quicker and more efficient way to obtain permission to enter Turkey than the “sticker visa” system it replaced.

The advantages of a Turkey e-Visa for US passport holders are that it can be easily obtained online and saves time that would otherwise be spent on visa applications at Turkish embassies and consulates or at ports of entry into Turkey.
