Japan Visa Requirements for Filipino Citizens

The Japan eVISA is only available to Filipino passport holders if they hold permanent residence in one of the following countries:

• Brazil
• Cambodia
• Canada
• Mongolia
• Saudi Arabia
• Singapore
• South Africa
• Taiwan
• United Arab Emirates
• United Kingdom
• United States of America

Filipino travelers who are not resident in these countries, visiting for reasons other than tourism, not arriving by air, or wishing to stay in Japan longer are not eligible to apply for the eVISA. They should contact their local Japanese embassy or consulate for further information.

The application procedure for a Japan eVISA for Filipinos is straightforward. The online form takes just a few minutes to fill out. It can be completed from any device with an internet connection.

You should ensure you have all the correct paperwork and information with you when you fill in the application. This is to avoid mistakes and speed up the process of application to ensure there are no problems.

When filling in the form, you will require:

• A valid Filipino passport. It should have at least 6 months’ validity from the date of your trip to Japan.
• A photograph of yourself, passport.style, taken in the last 6 months.
• An email address to which the  Japan eVISA approval notice will be sent

There will be a selection of security questions to answer as part of the online application, as well as information from the applicant’s passport. Information regarding travel details will also be required, such as dates of travel and flight information.

If you are a citizen of the Philippines resident in either Singapore or the UK, you can pay the processing fee online using a valid debit or credit card. Otherwise, you need to visit the nearest diplomatic office of Japan to complete payment.

When the Japan eVISA is checked and approved, the approval notice is sent to the email address registered on the application.

This processing is usually very fast, within 5 business days but often quicker than that. During busy times there can be a slight delay, so always ensure you leave plenty of time to apply before traveling.

Japan eVISA holders are required to show the original visa approval notice on a mobile device to board their flight at the airport. Printouts or screenshots are not currently permitted. If you are unable to do this, you’ll have to apply for a visa at a Japanese diplomatic office.
