European Travel Information and Authorization for Luxembourg

ETIAS for Luxembourg is an electronic visa waiver which is due to be introduced in 2025. It will allow eligible citizens to travel to Luxembourg and Schengen Area countries for short stays.

The European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) is not a Luxembourg visa. Rather, it is an additional entry requirement for those travelers who do not require a visa. These visitors must register their details online with ETIAS.

The European visa waiver for Luxembourg is a multiple entry travel authorization that permits a stay of 90 days with each entry to the Schengen Area. It is valid for a total of 3 years from the date of approval, meaning there is no need to apply for ETIAS Luxembourg before every trip to Europe.

The European Commission is implementing the ETIAS visa waiver for Luxembourg in order to pre-screen visa-exempt travelers to the Schengen Area to identify any potential safety risks, with the aim of improving European border security.

Eligible citizens will be able to apply through the simple ETIAS application for Luxembourg online. To complete the ETIAS Luxembourg application form, it will be necessary to fill in personal, passport, and travel information, and answer a few questions related to health and security matters to receive an approved visa waiver via email.

Travelers who apply for the ETIAS to Luxembourg will be able to visit Luxembourg and the Schengen Area for purposes of business, transit, medical treatment, and tourism.

Those who wish to visit Luxembourg for other purposes or longer consecutive periods of time should contact the nearest Luxembourgish Embassy or Consulate for further information.

Luxembourg ETIAS Visa Waiver Requirements

In order to submit an online application, it is first necessary to meet the Luxembourg ETIAS visa waiver requirements. Applicants are required to have an ETIAS eligible passport valid for at least 3 months from the intended entry date to Luxembourg and the Schengen Area.

Application requirements for an ETIAS for Luxembourg also involve the applicant providing:

  • A credit or debit card to pay the Luxembourg ETIAS application fee
  • A current email address where the approved ETIAS for Luxembourg will be sent.

ETIAS Requirements for traveling to Luxembourg state that it will not be mandatory to print a copy of ETIAS, as the approved visa waiver for Luxembourg will be electronically linked to the applicant’s passport. Nevertheless, applicants are advised to carry a printed copy to present at Schengen Area border control in the rare case of any problems with the electronic system.
