Germany is one of the 40+ countries who can take advantage of the new Electronic Egypt Tourist Visa program. Using this system, German travelers can apply for an electronic visa (also known as the e-Visa) online within minutes and from the comfort of their own home.

All that applicants need are just 15 minutes of their time and a device with an internet connection. The Egypt e-Visa application for citizens of Germany eliminates the need to queue at the border for a visa on arrival or visit an Egyptian diplomatic mission to get an embassy visa.

To apply, you simply need to meet a few basic Egypt e-Visa requirements for Germans.

What Is the Egyptian e-Visa for German Citizens and What Does It Do?

The Egyptian e-Visa for German citizens is an online tourist visa. The simple application process allows visitors from Germany to get an e-Visa using a laptop, phone, or other device, without having to go anywhere to deal with paperwork in person.

The e-Visa permits Germans to travel to Egypt for tourism purposes. This electronic visa is available as either a single or multiple-entry visa, depending on the applicant’s needs and itinerary.

The Egyptian e-Visa can be used for stays for up to 30 days in Egypt and it is valid to enter the country for 3 or 6 months from the date of issue (depending on if your visa is single or multiple-entry).

Those who have opted for a multiple-entry visa may enter Egypt as many times as they like, as long as it is within the validity period, and they do not exceed 30 days of consecutive stay.

Do Germans need a visa for Egypt?

Yes, international passengers entering Egypt on a German passport must have a valid visa.

The simplest and fastest way to get an Egyptian tourist visa is by applying for an e-Visa online. Visitors from Germany can stay in Egypt for up to 30 days at a time with an e-Visa.

German nationals just need to fill in a quick online form and they will receive their Egyptian tourist e-Visa within 4 business days. This is quicker than the time quoted on the government website (7 days) and much quicker than applying for a traditional embassy visa.

However, Egyptian visa policy states that German passport holders wishing to visit Egypt for longer periods, or purposes other than tourism, must apply for an embassy visa from the nearest Egyptian diplomatic mission.

How Can I Apply for an Egyptian e-Visa From Germany?

Thanks to the e-Visa program, German travelers are able to conveniently apply for the Egypt electronic visa from the comfort of their home. This means that travelers do not have to spend time visiting their local embassy and attending an in-person interview with an immigration officer.

Instead, the process is done entirely online and should take less than 15 minutes to complete.

Traveling to Egypt from Germany

Thanks to its popularity as a summer resort, there are a generous number of flights from Germany to Egypt — especially during peak season.

The most popular destinations for flights include Egypt’s capital, Cairo, as well as resort cities like Sharm El-Sheikh, Hurghada, and Marsa Alam.

German travelers have many choices when it comes to departure airports, including Berlin, Frankfurt, Munich, Hamburg, and Cologne, among others. The amount of daily departures exponentially increases during the summer season thanks to the addition of chartered flights.

Although the majority of German tourists choose to travel to Egypt via airplane, it is also possible to make the trip by car. The driving distance between the two countries is about 4,800 km and takes a minimum of three days.

Remember, even if you have a visa, Egyptian border control officers have the right to refuse you entry. For example, if a traveler appears to present a security risk, they may be denied entry to Egypt.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

FAQ for Germans Visiting Egypt

  • Do I need a visa for Egypt from Germany?

Yes, all German citizens need to have proper travel authorization to enter Egypt. The easiest and most convenient option is to apply for an Egyptian eVisa, which is done entirely over the internet and should only take about 15 minutes to complete.

  • How long can German citizens stay in Egypt?

German citizens are allowed to stay for a maximum of 30 days in Egypt. Travelers from Germany may opt to apply for the single-entry visa or the multiple-entry visa. Although both options give travelers a maximum of 30 days in Egypt, the latter allows German travelers to enter and exit Egypt multiple times on the same visa.

  • How much is an Egypt visa for German citizens?

The price of an Egypt visa for Germans depends on a number of factors, such as the duration, entry type (single or multiple entry), and purpose. German nationals will be able to see the final price after filling out the online application form, and can pay by debit or credit card.

  • Can I extend my Egypt e-Visa for Germans?

You can renew your visa while staying in Egypt. To do this, you must have all the required documents on your person and take them to the General Administration of Passports, Immigration, and Nationality.

For German visitors, it may be more feasible to leave Egypt for a few days to get a new e-Visa and then return. Since Germans are European Union citizens, Cyprus is a popular option, since it is within the EU and relatively close to Egypt, with short flights between the 2 countries.
